Hunt is on to find best community officers

PEOPLE in Notts are being asked to vote for who they think is the best neighbourhood policing officer and police community support officer in the county.

Residents can nominate officers who they believe have given an excellent service for Notts Police's annual awards.

Winning candidates will be crowned Christopher McDonald Community Officer of the Year and the Police Community Support Officer of the Year for 2010/11.

The winners will be put forward to represent the force at Jane's Police Review National Policing Awards, in London in November 2011.

Chief Constable Julia Hodson, who will present the awards, said: "There is no one better placed to identify those officers who go above and beyond the call of duty when serving their communities than the people of Notts themselves. It is vital that we engage local people in this process, as community officers play a critical policing role."

Nominations should be a maximum of 500 words and state why the officer should win the award.

They can be sent by letter to Melanie Winskill-Wilson, awards administrator at Notts Police Headquarters, Sherwood Lodge, Arnold, Notts, NG5 8PP, or by email to force.awards @nottinghamshire.pnn. police.uk.

The closing date for nominations is midnight on Sunday, May 8.
