A GUNMAN who fired shots at a passing car has been jailed for eight years.
Duane Clarke, 25, fired the handgun at a Ford Fiesta in Sandon Street, New Basford, on July 26 last year, before fleeing the scene.
The shots were fired at around 1pm with the first bullet missing the car, while the second one struck the rear wheel arch.
No one was injured in the shooting, and police found a 9mm cartridge and lead fragments in the street.
Clarke, of Sandon Street, pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court to possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Detective Inspector Adrian Morgan said: "Clarke fired a gun with no regard for the fact that someone could have been seriously injured or killed.
"Today's lengthy sentence means he will now have plenty of time to reflect on what he did."
