Dealer jailed for drugs in car boot

A MANSFIELD man has been jailed for two years after drugs worth almost 40,000 were found in a car he was driving.

Jonathan David Tait, of Bowling Street, was arrested after police stopped and searched a VW Polo on the A60 in August last year.

Almost two kilograms of amphetamines were found in the boot of the car.

A second car, parked in Peel Crescent, Mansfield, was also searched after its keys were found in the Polo. Amphetamines weighing between three and four ounces were found in the car.

Tait, 30, pleaded guilty to possession of amphetamine with intent to supply and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday.

Investigating officer DC Sarah Mason said: "Tait was clearly a significant dealer of amphetamine in the Mansfield area.

"Hopefully, a key drugs supply chain in this part of the county has been disrupted, if not broken."
