Nick Hagadone struggles as Indianapolis tops Columbus: Minor-league report

Padron's three hits can't rescue Akron; Mike Rayl battered in Kinston loss to Frederick; Lake County falls short in pitchers' duel; Mahoning Valley's Will Roberts impresses in loss to Auburn; Gonzalez-Diaz sharp in Crushers' win

AAA Columbus Clippers

Indians 3, Clippers 2: Indianapolis scored two unearned runs in the bottom of the ninth off LH Nick Hagadone (4-3, 3.18) to win the International League game.

Columbus RH starter Joe Martinez (3.94) allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk in 71/3 innings.

AA Akron Aeros

Flying Squirrels 4, Aeros 3: Akron 1B Raul Padron (.244) had three hits but the Aeros lost the Eastern League game to visiting Richmond (Va.).

RH Brett Brach (1-1, 3.31) started for Akron and allowed four runs (two earned) in 51/3 innings. He gave up seven hits, walked three, and struck out four.

Advanced A Kinston Indians

Keys 7, Indians 2: Kinston 3B Adam Abraham (.251) hit his 14th home run of the season but the K-Tribe lost the Carolina League game in Frederick, Md. LH Mike Rayl (1-3, 5.81) started for Kinston and got banged around. He allowed six runs (all earned) on nine hits and two walks in four innings.

A Lake County Captains

Whitecaps 1, Captains 0: West Michigan pushed across a run in the bottom of the 12th inning to beat Lake County in the Midwest League game in Comstock Park, Mich.

RH Felix Sterling (3.93) started and allowed four hits in six innings.

A Mahoning Valley Scrappers

Doubledays 4, Scrappers 1: Mahoning Valley managed just five singles and quietly lost the New York-Penn League game to Auburn (N.Y.) in Niles, Ohio.

Scrappers RH Will Roberts (1-2, 2.70) started and struck out seven in six innings. He walked none and allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits.

Independent Lake Erie Crushers

Crushers 7, Slammers 2: SS Andrew Davis (.337) and DH Kellen Kulbacki (.271) each knocked in two runs to lead Lake Erie to the Frontier League win in Joliet, Ill.

RH Eric Gonzalez-Diaz allowed one earned run and struck out six in seven innings to get the win.
