Turkey carried out air and ground attacks on Kurdish targets in Iraq on Wednesday, vowing to take "great revenge" after 26 Turkish troops died in one of the deadliest Kurdish attacks in decades. According to Reuters, Turkish officials said some 100 fighters from the PKK launched simultaneous attacks under cover of darkness on seven remote army outposts in Hakkari province, on the border with Iraq.
The PKK confirmed it carried out the attacks, in which it said five of its members were killed.
