Frank Skinner's show to change the tune for Absolute Radio

Absolute presenter's Saturday show will also air on four digital stations, with different music for each but the same links

Frank Skinner's Absolute Radio show is to be broadcast across its four-strong digital network ? but with different music on each station.

Skinner's Saturday morning show between 8am and 10am will be broadcast an hour later on Absolute 80s, Absolute Radio 90s, Absolute Radio 00s and Absolute Classic Rock.

The programme will be re-edited so that most of the words remain the same but the tunes will change depending on which station you listen to. So saying "I really like Frank Skinner but I just don't like the music" will no longer be an excuse for not tuning in. At least, that's what Absolute Radio bosses hope.

Skinner joined Absolute Radio in 2009. The show, which also features Emily Dean and Alun Cochrane, won a gold award for best entertainment programme at this year's Sonys.

The podcast of the Saturday show, along with a midweek "not the weekend" offering, has been downloaded more than 8 million times so far in 2011.

The four digital stations have a combined audience of nearly 2 million listeners, more than the 1.65 million people who listened to the main Absolute Radio station in the second quarter of this year.

Absolute 80s is its most popular spin-off station, with 894,000 listeners.

Absolute Radio's owners, the Times of India Group, gave the station its long-term backing earlier this week.

It had previously considered a sale as part of a review of the business, attracting interest from TalkSport owner UTV Media and Richard Branson's Virgin.

The Frank Skinner Show will debut across the Absolute network this Saturday.
