ITV1 reality show pulls in 8.2 million viewers against 5.8 million for BBC1 documentary series
I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! got the better of David Attenborough's Frozen Planet in the Wednesday 9pm ratings battle.
The ITV1 reality show pulled in 8.2 million viewers and a 32.2% audience share over 90 minutes from 8.30pm, rising to 8.5 million when ITV1+1 viewing is included.
BBC1's Frozen Planet had to settle for 5.8 million viewers and a 22.3% share from 9pm. This was down from 7.2 million and 29% the previous week.
I'm a Celebrity launched with 11.5 million viewers and 42.5% on Sunday ? its best ever opening night ratings ? and followed up on Monday with 9.6 million and 36.1%.
The tough 9pm competition meant a bumpy takeoff for BBC2's new US drama import Pam Am, which got off the ground with 2 million and 7.5%, plus 134,000 (0.5%) on BBC HD.
A second episode of the show about 1960s air stewardesses drew 1.5 million and 7.2% from 9.45pm, with 97,000 (0.5%) on BBC HD.
Other 9pm shows included Channel 4's Grand Designs (1.7 million/6.7%, C4+1 300,000) and Channel 5's Big Brother: the Winner's Story (300,000/1.1%).
