BBC1 show loses 1 million viewers but still keeps its nose in front of ITV's The X Factor
BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing lost nearly a million viewers but still managed to keep its nose in front of ITV1 rival The X Factor on Saturday.
Last week's exit of Russell Grant may have been to blame, or possibly it was the boost given to the earlier show by coming live from Wembley Arena.
Whatever the reason, Strictly Come Dancing slipped to 10.6 million viewers, a 42.2% share of the audience, between 7pm and 8.15pm on Saturday, with a 15-minute peak of 11.5 million. Last Saturday's show averaged 11.4 million.
The X Factor was also down, albeit less substantially, to 10 million viewers (38.4%) between 8pm and 9.45pm, from 10.2 million last week. Saturday night's audience grew to 10.2 million when ITV1 +1 is included.
However, the ITV1 show retained its No 1 spot in the battle of the Sunday night results shows, with 12 million viewers, a 41.8% share, between 8pm and 9pm, with a peak of 13.3 million for its last 15 minutes. The average audience rose to 12.2 million with ITV1 +1.
Strictly Come Dancing had 10.7 million viewers, 39.7%, with its results show between 7.25pm and 8pm.
